Joint administrators Andrew MacKenzie and Robert Maxwell of Begbies Traynor, who have been appointed by the court, are seeking a buyer for the business, which carries out structural and mechanical engineering work for a range of clients in the farming, marine and civil engineering industries.
Hawksley Engineering, which has an annual turnover of approximately آ£500,000, has been trading since 1972 and employs nine staff at its Gunness plant. All nine employees face redundancy if a buyer cannot be found for the company.
“Unfortunately Hawksley Engineering has suffered from the devastating effects of the economic downturn and the loss of a major customer, which has resulted in the business being put into administration,†said MacKenzie. “We are hopeful that the company can be sold as a going concern, safeguarding as many jobs as possible.â€
He added: “We are currently talking to a number of interested parties and hope to secure a buyer for the business and its assets, which include plant and machinery as well as 3.5 acres of land and buildings in Scunthorpe.â€
All enquiries should be made to Louise Longley at Begbies Traynor on 0113 2440044.
