The new facility on Bombardier鈥檚 Litchurch Lane site will be used for the production of Crossrail trains. Its footprint will be approximately 250 metres by 40 metres, enabling it to handle four 10-carriage trains.
The work includes the construction of four multi-functional train lines, each with full length overhead lines and inspection pits containing a range of services that will be accessible by rail at both ends, connecting into the existing test track facilities.
Office space will be provided in a two-storey annex, along with associated power upgrade works to the site for overhead electricity lines.
The project is scheduled for completion in winter 2016.
