Developer Morris Homes plans to build a new residential community comprising at Sysonby Farm in Melton Mowbray.
The homes are designed to cater to a range of needs including first time buyers, families and downsizers.
With Melton Borough Council planning committee having now approved the plans, construction work expected to begin in spring 2026.
The development will be designed to respect the setting of the Grade II listed Sysonby Hunting Lodge, which sits to the south of the site. The site will retain areas of greenspace, trees and hedgerows in an attempt to protect wildlife and enhance biodiversity.
Plans also outline the construction of a new primary school and local centre, which are subject to separate planning approvals. If and when approved, they will be delivered at a later date by third parties.
Morris Homes sales director Joanne McGarvey said: “Our aim is to create a beautiful neighbourhood and vibrant community which can be enjoyed by people from all walks of life. Melton Mowbray has such a rich offering for residents. It is a thriving market town with fantastic heritage and local amenities, all while being surrounded by the stunning Leicestershire countryside.â€
