The High Court has dismiss a judicial review application against Medway Council鈥檚 approval of the Basin3 development at Chatham Waters.
This ruling confirms that the planning permission granted in November 2024 was lawful and that Medway Council鈥檚 robust decision-making process stands.
As previously reported, Peel Waters plans to pull down the old industrial units on the 18-acre waterfront site and put up 31,000 sqm of new office space to attract white collar employers to the area.
Among the businesses losing their premises is ArcelorMittal Kent Wire, which produces approximately a third of the UK鈥檚 reinforcing steel consumption on the site. It launched a legal challenge to protect the 800+ jobs already on the site and a critical British industry.聽聽
