CG Fry & Son Ltd posted its best ever numbers last year in 45 years of trading.

The builder is best known for its characteristically traditional work on the Poundbury development in its home town of Dorchester. Its current developments include part of Welborne garden village in Hampshire.

In the Year to 31st December 2024, CG Fry's turnover was up 24% to £122.6m (2023: £98.6m).

Of this, development projects accounted for £81.6m (2023: £72.5m) and contracting accounted for £40.9m (2023: £26.1m).

Pre-tax profit for the year was up 18% to £12.4m (2023: £10.5m).

Finance director Ludovic Blackburn wrote in the annual report: “Despite broader economic challenges affecting the wider market, the company succeeded in growing turnover while protecting profit margins. With net assets exceeding £100m, and with no debt, the company is in a very strong position to navigate market cycles and take advantage of opportunities.â€
