Pat Fitzgerald joins Wates in September from Mace to succeed commercial director Simon Potter, who retired in April.
Fitzgerald is a chartered quantity surveyor who began his career in house-building in the 1990s. He then worked for Bovis Lendlease for six years before joining Mace in 2012. Four the past five years he has been commercial director for major projects at Mace, leading a 拢800m annual turnover business.
At Wates he is expected to lead the commercial strategy and oversee commercial, legal and building safety teams across the Wates business divisions.

Previous group commercial director Simon Potter retired at the end of April 2025 after 36 years with the company. Chris Symeonides is covering the role as an interim until Fitzgerald formally begins the role on 1st September.
