M27 Junction 10 box slide
Hampshire County Council’s upgrade at M27 Junction 10 reached a significant milestone with the installation of a new motorway underpass, delivered through a complex box slide operation over the 2025 Christmas road closure.
The reinforced concrete underpass – 60 m long, 25 m wide, and 10 m high, and weighing 8,330 tonnes – was built adjacent to the motorway and slid laterally into its final position beneath the M27.
Main contractor VolkerFitzpatrick appointed Freyssinet to deliver the complete Autoripage box slide operation, using bespoke Hebetec jacking equipment.
