More growth for McAleer & Rushe

4 hours Accounts filed by McAleer & Rushe for last year show strong growth in profits.

McAleer & Rushe Contracts UK Ltd turned over £491.5m in the year to 31st December 2024, which was 13% higher than 2023's £436.4m, and in line with directors’ expectations.

Operating profit increased by 52% to reach £13.2m (2023: £8.7m) while pre-tax profit was up 45% at £16.0m (2023: £11.0m).

Cash at bank and in hand grew from £53m to £71m over the course of the year.

Contracts completed by McAleer & Rushe in the year included the 36-storey Exchange Square apartment block in Birmingham, City Square House office building in Leeds, Maldron hotels in Liverpool and Manchester, student accommodation developments in Leeds and Nottingham and the 13-block New Acres residential scheme for Legal & General in Wandsworth, London.

A year ago, in the 2023 annual report, finance director Eamon Higgins wrote that 2025 turnover was expected to break the £500m mark. In the 2024 report he now says that turnover for 2025 is expected to reach £550m.
