PCE, formerly Precast Concrete Erection, has bought a Liebherr LTR 1150 telescopic-boomed crawler crane to bolster its on-site operations.
Bridging the gap between the LTR 1100 and the LTR 1220 in the Liebherr range, the 150-tonne capacity crane has a six-section 52-metre main boom with a 10.8- to 19-metre fly jib that offsets hydraulically by up to 40 degrees. Two seven-metre lattice inserts can be added between the boom nose and the fly jib, taking the hook height to 83 metres and radius to 76 metres.
PCE will use it for handling concrete panels.
According to Liebherr, the LTR 1150 is the only telescopic crawler crane in its lifting capacity class that can be transported on one low loader complete with its crawler carriers, totalling 60 tonnes and a width of just 3.5 metres, thus making this model economical to transport to job sites.

PCE supply chain director Chris McReynolds said: “The development of this particular machine has filled a gap that PCE has been looking to fulfil for several years. The great lift capacity and ease of transport really help PCE to be self-sufficient with new project mobilisations, demobilising our lattice crawlers and other large items of plant and equipment, whilst still capable of erecting projects alongside our other cranes during the construction of major projects.”
The LTR 1150 is PCE’s first telescopic crawler crane, joining a fleet of two Liebherr LR 1160.1 lattice jib crawler cranes.
PCE, founded in 1969 by Vince Wetton, began investing in its own cranes in 2001, buying two Liebherr LR 1100, one LR 11300 and two earlier models of the LR 1160.
